You might not know this, but there is an ongoing effort to secure a valuable piece of the music industry’s future — the “.music” domain. Much like a .com or .net domain, artists will soon be able to register their own websites under a “.music” domain. And like any great idea, there are a lot of people hoping to secure the rights to it. In fact, many companies and organizations have already submitted applications to ICANN (the organization that governs new top-level domains). Fortunately, ReverbNation has been tracking a community-based organization called DotMusic LTD that has advanced to the final stages of securing “.music” on behalf of emerging artists everywhere.
